Sure, gold is rallying today, and retail investors are flocking to
their computers to get in. What a great chance to short gold. Just
because it's gold doesn't mean that the old adage "buy the rumor, sell
the news" doesn't hold true.

All the feds have to do is "slow" down the printing presses, and they
are going to, and they will leave the world holding the ball. Think we
are popular now?

What say you?

The Fed will not slow the printing presses down. If they do, we will
meet the 'end of the world as we know it' that was so widely talked
about last fall.

Of course, such a correction is needed so that we can get it all
together and go back to work, but the Fed and U.S. government is in
the business of trading short-term gain for long-term pain.

Go ahead and short gold, sure it might go down a little in the next
few months, but over the long term, you will get destroyed.

My plan is to buy GLD with 20% of my portfolio, and buy Jan-11 GLD put
options as protection.  Any thoughts on how good an idea that is?
What is the best strike price for the option?

The Fed will keep printing away and has already told us to expect easy
money through 2010. The S&P 500 is essentially flat this year in "real
gold" terms, making stocks just one more form of flimsy paper
currency. Gold remains my favorite investment:

I say that we might just taking off for a rocketship ride on a
massive, weekly-timeframe level ascending triangle breakout.... of
course i could be wrong and it could be a fake out, but why would you
be short here?

Wait until the chart tells you where to go, dont try and predict.
Being short in a base formation (especially one that appears to be
breaking out) is just fundamentally poor trading. Basing trade
decisions on sentences that start with "All the feds have to do
is...." reveals your strategy as the cynical, amateur hour speculation
that it really is.

For all of the negative and cynical people that i see running their
yaps on the internet about how bad things are and how the world will
collapse due to a huge international government conspiracy i seem to
be making a f**king killing this year (far exceeding what i lost last
year), so if you will excuse us the adults have some money to
make.......

Let each individual manage their positions how they will, and the
balance sheet will show who was right.

Whoever reads my posts here everyonce in a while knows my opinion on
gold.
Sure you can trade GLD buy-sell, but I repeat my advice, whatever you
do, don't "short" gold, this would be your most dangerous trade ever
as one day you can wake up and see the stampeede into gold ( the real
one, like dotcom times)
I say it again, we had not seen anything yet, as there are many
nonbelievers still left..

Good trading ...

The Fed isn't going to willingly abandon the printing presses.  But
there are things that set a very clear deadline on how long it has to
try and print a way out of this mess.
A video on that behalf

At some point of the gold/silver move it will not matter anymore how
the dollar does, it will be just about the typical fear of missing the
rally...

Of course for us, the gold/silver investors for a long time, it would
mean to carefully start planning an exit ( SELL )

But this is still months and years away, for now just trade around
your core positions and again, do not "short" it, just sell on a
different short term peaks..

My 2 cents..
